to underwrite operations needs for the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.

 

United Way of teh Ozarks Female Leaders in Philanthropy (Springfield, MO) $5,000

to provide at risk children with backpacks filled with easy to fix and nutritious food for the weekend days. Children qualify for the federally subsidized breakfast and lunch programs at their respective schools and are identified to be in the program by school principals. The cost is $7.85 per backpack. On average, a school serves 25 children per week, 36 weeks out of the year.

Isabel's House (Springfield, MO) $5,000

to underwrite items for teh "Comfort and Care Closet" (clothing, snuggle toy and blanket for each child upon admission, which they take home with them)

2005 Grants Awarded

Kid’s Harbor, Inc. (Camden, Dent, Hickory, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Morgan, Phelps & Pulaski MO Counties) $10,000

to help provide intervention and advocacy to child victims of physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect for an estimated 300-350 child victims and their non-offending family members.


Children’s Smile Center (Highlandville, MO) $7,000

start-up funds to help establish a fixed-site dental clinic for Medicaid/ MC+ eligible children in Stone and Christian Counties.


Springfield Family YMCA (Springfield, MO) $6,125

to (1) fund the program “We Brush, Too!” a dental program consisting of daily dental hygiene regimen at ten YMCA prime time sites located in neighborhoods with low and very low incomes and (2) to aid in the purchase of the needed toothbrushes, toothpaste and proper storage for the children. This will benefit approximately 225 children.

Douglas County MO Health Department $5,100

to underwrite program materials for “Supporting Parents”, a project designed to educate parents in rural communities where prenatal care is not readily available.

Developmental Center of the Ozarks (Springfield, MO) $4,500

to help fund Therapy “Scholarships”, for children ages birth to six, which promote personal growth and development of the skills necessary for these individuals to achieve their optimal levels of functioning.

 

Lutie MO R-VI School District $4,000

to help fund a dental team consisting of twelve senior dental students and three doctors for a complete set-up for the “Free Children’s Dental Clinic” to benefit approximately 334 children.


Doula Foundation of Mid-America (Springfield, MO) $4,000

to underwrite doula services, prenatal yoga, prenatal massage, childbirth classes, lactation consultant visits, and postnatal and baby yoga for at risk pregnant women and their families which include emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after the child birth process.

 

Horses of Hope (Buffalo, MO) $2,275

to underwrite 41 therapeutic riding sessions for 25 children with physical and mental disabilities under the age of 18.


Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake (Stone County, MO) $2,500

to underwrite dental appointments for approximately 50 at risk children (ages 5-14) who cannot access needed dental treatment or to defray costs of transportation to a dentist when care is located at a distance.


Republic MO R-III School District $1,000

to underwrite dental visits and/or medicine prescribed by a dentist for at risk children needing immediate access to dental treatment.

for the "Hugs For The Heart" program, which is an on-going grief support group for children ages 3-18 who have lost a parent or sibling;


Lakes Area Child Advocacy Center (Branson West, MO) $6,500

to purchase new, updated medical equipment (a colposcope and a video
printer) that supports the purpose of their program, which is to provide the most accurate investigative process they can for the well being and safety of the children they serve;

 

Lutie R-VI Schools (Lutie, MO) $3,000

for the annual Free Children’s Dental Clinic held in conjunction with UMKC dental students Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake

 

(Kimberling City, MO) $3,000

to pay for emergency dental care for their clients, Stone county children ages 5-14, who live at or below 25 percent of the median income;

Greene County Health Department (Springfield, MO) $1,000

to help fund the "We Brush, Too" program, a fun, child friendly, interactive dental education program that promotes daily oral hygiene programs in childcare and early childhood facilities;


Springfield Public Schools Foundation (Springfield, MO) $2,000

to help underwrite the "Fluoride Swish" program, which provides regular
fluoride treatments as well as education on the importance of basic dental health and hygiene for at risk students;

 

The Kitchen, Inc. (Springfield, MO) $2,500

to help purchase psycho tropic prescription medication for children in their shelter;

 

Easter Seals (Springfield, MO) $2,000

to help purchase therapeutic indoor play equipment for their toy lending
library;

Developmental Center of the Ozarks (DCO) (Springfield, MO) $2,500

for the Children’s Therapy Program, a state licensed child care program
offering specialized programming and therapies for children ages birth to six.

to help fund the most current evaluation tools and obtain the most up-to-date equipment for various therapy and Early Education classroom areas that will benefit children with disabilities

to fund equipment and field trips for the 25-50 children and their parents who will participate in Camp Friday and Camp Saturday, a program that provides fun for children with disabilities and a respite for their parents

to help buy equipment and toys for a new 24-hour child care facility that will provide safe and secure care for children residing in the Center’s shelter for victims of domestic violence

to fund sports equipment for community programs at the Christian Activities Center, a stable and wholesome environment open to Thayer and outlying areas for persons of all ages to participate in constructive recreation.

to help provide seed capital for the building of a transitional living facility, NONSTOP, where adolescent boys can pursue their education, vocational or job readiness training while living in a safe, structured and supportive setting that affords them both the time and opportunity to acquire essential life skills.

to help purchase a computer, printer and copier which will contribute towards the larger goal of expanding communication systems for this organization’s mission of serving as a voice in the courts for abused, neglected and exploited children
