The Ronald
McDonald House

How to Give

SOAR WITH US!

Because of our many angels, the Ronald McDonald House® of the Ozarks takes flight. The Ronald McDonald House has helped over 6,600 families be close to their seriously ill children, around 400 this year alone. It is a service offered not only to the community, but also to the individuals who are going through times full of anxiety and fear. As “the house that love built®”, we help launch hope and comfort for families who otherwise could not be with their children. And nothing seems more bleak than a child suffering alone.

Your past donations have helped thousands of individuals by providing a safe, comfortable place for them to stay during a difficult time. We’ve learned that sometimes the simplest thing can mean the most—a ride to the hospital, a warm meal, a kind word, a listening ear. Thank you.

And now, buoyed by the kindness of so many and driven by the need which increases by the day, we’re asking you to soar with us by donating to help our House continue to help those who need it.

A new site will help us rise to meet the need.

As the Springfield area grows, so has the need. To continue supporting those who need us, we need your donations like never before. Our current location, close to Cox South Hospital, is providing a wonderful service, helping up to 14 families each night—every night for more than 16 years. And now, as we look to the future, we plan to build another Ronald McDonald House within St. John’s Children’s Hospital before 2010. It will add up to 10 rooms to shelter families while their children are hospitalized. This is a big step for us, one that is needed now, even before we break ground.

Energizing our mission on a higher note

Special this year, we are offering a gift of appreciation to donors who give at least $38, the cost of one Share-a-Night at the Ronald McDonald House. Singers and musicians from the community have let their voices soar on behalf of our “home away from home.” The result is a magnificent CD of songs, each about an angel, each recorded and donated by talented artists from the area we serve.

Soaring includes an array of favorites as well as songs written just for this CD. From 50s ballads to jazz to inspirational songs, it will lighten your heart each time you play it. It makes a memorable gift and gives twice with your donation.

You may request one CD for every multiple of $38 (see the donor card.) Please give and accept our gratitude through Soaring, a gathering of musicianship unique to our community. Once you hear the uplifting talents of these artists, Soaring is sure to find a place in your heart.

Please give ~ and boost your donation to receive Soaring and help our families.

Our expectations are high and our mission calls us to give more to our community. Your help at this time is critical. Please fill out the donor card and mail it to us today. We have many spirits to lift.

Anastasia was born with hydrocephalus and was diagnosed with a debilitating and fatal disease, Dandy-Walker Syndrome. I was discharged from the hospital as a massive snowstorm hit so my husband and I could not get home. We were separated from friends and family at Christmas and we did not know what our daughter’s fate would be. The Ronald McDonald House became our home for the holidays. We will never forget the profound kindness that was extended to us. I awoke on Christmas morning to see my baby’s first Christmas gifts ever sitting under the house’s tree. My daughter had been diagnosed with a fatal illness and I wondered if these gifts would be her last. Our lives are forever changed by the love extended to us from strangers. Imagine our relief when we learned the fatal disease was a misdiagnosis and the hydrocephalus healed on its own. Thanks to the Ronald McDonald   House for adding to our Christmas miracle and profoundly impacting the rest of our lives.

Brandon
Our 18-year-old son was in a swimming accident while camping. He was rushed to the hospital, then sent by helicopter to Springfield where he stayed for 10 days. The Ronald McDonald House provided everything for us. I honestly do not know what we would have done if we weren’t able to stay there. It was so comforting to be able to talk to other families who were hurting like us. I am so thankful to the Ronald McDonald House for providing a family atmosphere during a tragic time in our lives. Bless you, all your staff and volunteers for all their hard work and love they give to others.
