Volunteers

Our dedicated volunteers are considered the “heart” of the Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks. If not for the services of many generous individuals, our Ronald House would not be possible. Many of our volunteers have been a vital part of the House since the day our first family arrived — April 4, 1988. And some have been a part of the House since prior to building! In fact, all of the fundraising to build and furnish the Ronald McDonald House was conducted entirely by volunteers.
With the primary responsibility of a Ronald House volunteer being to help
provide a “home” for families of seriously-ill and injured children,
our volunteers have provided numerous hours and expertise to our program.
From checking in families, baking special desserts, restocking rooms, cleaning,
and answering the phone, to assisting in newsletter distribution, running
errands and computer entry, our volunteers have directly and indirectly affected
the lives of over 6,900 families.
Our goal is to gear each volunteer experience to the interests of the individual.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their special skills into play, as we
have various needs such as giving tours, speakers bureau, fundraising activities,
grounds beautification, cooking and maintenance & repairs.

Generally, our “In House” volunteers adopt (1) three-hour shift
each week. The House is staffed by volunteers each day from 9:00 a.m. to
9:00 p.m. Usually, our volunteers work with a member of our management team
or another volunteer.
Our 14-bedroom “home away from home” is located at 949 East Primrose
Street, just west of Ferrell-Duncan Clinic. Individuals interested in visiting
the House to learn more about our volunteer program are encouraged to call
and schedule a tour.
